چکیده
Esophagogastric junction (EGJ) adenocarcinoma represents 27% of gastric tumors with an increasing incidence in Western countries. Additionally, up to 80% EGJ are diagnosed advanced stages disease, therefore the prognosis is usually poor, a 5-year overall survival rate less than 30%. It known that entity its own epidemiological characteristics, biological behavior, and prognosis, without evidence support optimal management. The aim this study was describe clinicopathological features, treatment, outcome Latin American patients treated at National Cancer Institute. Retrospective, observational study. Included adenocarcinoma, Institute between 2003 2020. Statistical analysis required: X2 t test, Kaplan Meier, Log Rank Cox Regression. significance differences were assessed when p bilaterally <0.05. A total 174 included analysis. 82%(n=143) cases male median age diagnosis 58 (18-90) years old. Comorbidities type-2. Diabetes (21%), systemic arterial hypertension (20%), besides, almost half had history smoking alcohol consumption (45% 34%, respectively). Median disease pretreatment 4 months. Most prevalent symptoms weight loss (85%, n= 148), dysphagia (83%, 144), epigastric pain (47%, 6). Patients subdivided 2 groups 1) metastatic (n=80= non-metastatic (n=94). Among patients, (n=75) received neoadjuvant among them, 66% (n=62) chemoradiotherapy. Out who 82% (n=60) completed treatment 58% (n=34) them surgery, 59% (n=20) R0 surgical margins. An OS conducted comparing modalities these for chemoradiotherapy surgery median-OS 54 months versus 16 those complete (p=<0.001; HR 0.32, 95%CI 0.17-0.62). Otherwise (n=53) first-line chemotherapy remaining 34%(n=27) did not accept or candidates so best supportive care (BSC) decided. At analysis, 11 0.18, 0.09-0.36). Besides, clinical stage, 20 8 Non-metastatic 2.57, 1.75-3.79). Adenocarcinoma poor associated high prevalence gastroesophageal reflux, obesity, dietary changes. There no standard however, perioperative has shown benefit locally disease. As remains option. Further trials involving new therapy options necessary improve prognosis.

Nomogram predicted survival of patients with adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction
BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to develop a prognostic nomogram for patients with adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction and compare its predictive accuracy with the traditional tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) malignant staging system. METHODS Patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (from 1988 to 2011) and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong Univ...
متن کاملClinical classification systems of adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction.
The classification and definition of adenocarcinomas of the esophagogastric junction (EGJ) have not been standardized, and the choice of surgical procedures is still the subject of controversy. In contrast to the decreasing frequency of gastric cancer and squamous cell carcinomas of the esophagus, a number of studies from various western industrialized nations have reported an increased inciden...
متن کاملCarbohydrate antigen 19-9 is a useful prognostic marker in esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma
The incidence rate of esophagogastric junction (EGJ) adenocarcinoma has been rapidly increasing worldwide. Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) are major serum tumor markers in gastrointestinal cancers. However, the role of these markers in EGJ adenocarcinoma has not been thoroughly investigated. A total of 211 patients with EGJ adenocarcinoma who underwent surg...

Today, the intractions of the immune system of the immune system, nutrition, and nervous system are one of the main research areas of interest in immunology and disease treatment. Due to changes in the mood, behavior, and diet of an individual during fasting period, the body's internal homeostasis is affected. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of Ramadan fasting on lympho...
متن کاملRole of Nampt and Visceral Adiposity in Esophagogastric Junction Adenocarcinoma
Nampt including eNampt and iNampt may contribute to mediating obesity-associated cancers. This study investigated the role of Nampt in esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma (EGA), a cancer strongly correlated with obesity. Visceral adiposity was defined by waist circumference or VFA. eNampt in sera were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. iNampt expression in EGA was determined by ...
